BGE nominated for award for innovation in adult teaching

ASEcoLi was honored for BGE by getting nominated for the Innovationspreis of the Deutsches Institut für Erwachsenenbildung (DIE). Nominated were 19 out of 60 projects from all over Germany. (Here is the German DIE press release.)

New BGE Article

A new article on BGE, by Sandra Stenzenberger and myself, has now been published in the Journal for EuroLinguistiX. The article deals with teaching pronunciation, vocabulary and communication skills and tests different skills with respect to the Common European Framework of Reference.

BGE at Eichstätt’s dm market

The German dm company, together with UNESCO, has called on its customers to hand in projects that promote the idea of sustainability. We handed in a description of Basic Global English and were selected for the second phase of this contest, which consists of presenting the project at the local dm-market. Pronunciation Training with Adults

Last week, I continued a BGE course in Memmingen with a part of the participants from the first course. I had planned to deal more with pronunciation training. For this, selected dialogs from Welcome to the World. While in the first course the participants were allowed to replace the original text by personally relevant words already very soon, I insisted on an exact copy of the text this time, so that the focus could be put completely on the pronunciation. BGE in Memmingen: Results of Written Test

I am happy to say that all participants have passed the final test (which included 3 listening comprehension questions, 3 reading comprehension questions, a question on 3 cross-cultural differences and a test production task) with at least 8 out of 16 points; with this, participants have demonstrated that they have acquired basic communicative skills in English.
